COIMBATORE | 8 July 2026: Executing a strategic expansion of its Indian operational footprint, Ford Business Solutions (FBS) India has officially launched its third capability node in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. Located at the SVB Tech Park, the 82,000 sq. ft. facility is designed not merely as capacity expansion, but as a dedicated business continuity hub.
By establishing a tertiary operational centre joining its primary hubs in Chennai and Bengaluru, the capability arm of the global automaker is structurally mitigating enterprise risk. The facility is equipped to house approximately 800 professionals, serving as an operational failover to guarantee the uninterrupted execution of critical financial and business functions for Ford Motor Company’s worldwide markets.

Headquartered in Dearborn, Michigan, Ford Motor Company operates as one of the world’s largest automotive manufacturers, managing a global workforce of approximately 169,000 professionals. Navigating a significant industry transformation, the multinational enterprise currently operates through three distinct business divisions: Ford Blue, Ford Model e, and Ford Pro, reflecting its evolving focus across traditional mobility, electrification, and commercial services.
Operating as the dedicated capability and technology arm of Ford Motor Company, Ford Business Solutions (FBS) India functions as an operational nerve centre supporting the automaker’s worldwide design, technology, and business services ecosystem. While the parent company restructured its domestic vehicle manufacturing operations in recent years, the capability network has continued to scale, employing thousands of professionals across India.
The Indian subsidiary plays a foundational role in Ford’s global business transformation. It has progressively evolved from legacy IT support to driving enterprise outcomes across software engineering, data science, financial analytics, and global business continuity, positioning India as a strategic intellectual property and operational anchor for the automotive enterprise.
INSIDE THE SVB TECH PARK NODE: INFRASTRUCTURE & MANDATE
Unlike conventional back-office setups, the Coimbatore facility is specifically engineered to support complex financial continuity and cross-functional collaboration. The operational and structural parameters of the new hub include:
- Targeted Functional Mandate: The capability centre is dedicated to supporting highly specific enterprise verticals, predominantly housing teams responsible for global Accounting, complex Ford Credit analysis, and core Business Operations.
- Continuity Architecture: The site functions as a failover environment. It is technically equipped to seamlessly assume critical enterprise processes if primary global locations experience adverse weather, infrastructure, or localized disruptions.
- Hybrid Workspace Configuration: Spanning three dedicated floors, the facility accommodates its 800 team members using a fluid, hybrid attendance model designed for operational flexibility.
- Collaboration Zones: Moving away from traditional linear desk rows, each floor features over 230 workstations, supplemented by specialized focus rooms, collaboration booths, and analytical boardrooms designed for uninterrupted data evaluation.
THE STRATEGIC SHIFT TO COIMBATORE: REBALANCING TIER-II CENTERS
The geographic selection of Coimbatore reflects the maturation of enterprise location strategy. As highlighted in SSF Global’s knowledge paper, “THE GREAT GCC REBALANCING – North India’s Moment”, multinational corporations are actively executing a broader rebalancing of talent geography. As capability centres move up the value chain from administrative execution to end-to-end process ownership, reliance on a single tier-one city increasingly becomes an operational vulnerability.
According to the SSF research framework, this expansion into tier-two corridors is driven by distinct structural requirements:
- The Resilience Premium: Tier-two cities are no longer viewed simply as cost-arbitrage destinations. They are being deliberately engineered as strategic complements to primary hubs, operating as dedicated business continuity nodes that insulate global operations from metro-specific infrastructural shocks.
- Accessing Untapped Specialized Talent: Historically recognized as a manufacturing and engineering powerhouse, Coimbatore provides a localized and highly stable pipeline of finance, engineering, and analytics professionals, allowing enterprises to reduce the attrition pressures often associated with saturated tier-one markets.
- Workforce Resilience: Distributed GCC architectures create leadership redundancy and institutional resilience by ensuring critical knowledge, capabilities, and decision-making are not concentrated within a single geography.
Gangapriya Chakraverti, India Site Head and Managing Director of Ford Business Solutions, highlighted the evolution of the firm’s offshore mandate and the rationale behind tapping into this emerging market.
FBS India has spent 25 years building the kind of depth and capability that lets us take end-to-end ownership of Ford’s select global processes,” she explained, emphasizing the transition toward strategic enterprise ownership…Coimbatore has also grown into a vibrant, thriving business hub, and we wanted to build a presence in a city that has so much to offer.
