Bollywood stars Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan have taken legal action in India’s Delhi High Court against Google and YouTube over the spread of AI-generated videos that use their likeness without permission. They argue these deepfake and manipulated videos infringe their personality and intellectual property rights. The actors want the court to order removal of such content and to require Google to prevent uploaded videos from being used to train third-party AI systems, which they say could multiply misleading or damaging portrayals of them online. The lawsuit claims YouTube’s policy that lets creators consent to share videos for AI training can lead to further misuse, including harmful or defamatory content. The filings include examples of AI content that falsely depict intimate or fabricated scenarios involving the couple.

The Bachchans’ case is part of a broader trend in India, where several celebrities are seeking judicial protection for personality rights amid rising deepfake concerns. Indian courts have previously intervened in cases involving misuse of celebrity images and voices. The Delhi High Court has already ordered the takedown of hundreds of links and is reviewing Google’s response ahead of the next hearing. The dispute highlights legal and ethical challenges around AI, digital identity, and consent in the age of generative content.
