Bengaluru | 10 November 2025: In a move that firmly established India’s growing significance in the global semiconductor value chain, Microchip Technology Inc., a leading provider of smart, connected, and secure embedded control solutions, has expanded its presence in Bengaluru with the acquisition of 1.72 lakh sq. ft. of prime office space in the EPIP Zone, Phase 2, Whitefield.
According to documents sourced from Propstack, the ₹176 crore transaction was finalized with Ascendum Solutions India Pvt Ltd., encompassing two commercial blocks with built-up areas of 92,098 sq. ft. and 80,395 sq. ft. respectively – spread across a basement, ground, and three upper floors.
This strategic investment aligns with Microchip’s long-term global roadmap to strengthen R&D, engineering, and customer enablement capabilities in India, one of its fastest-growing talent and innovation markets.
“At Microchip, growth is about creating opportunities as much as scaling operations. With India contributing to nearly 20% of global semiconductor design talent, our new Bengaluru facility will sharpen our advanced IC design focus and strengthen our engagement in one of the country’s most dynamic technology hubs.”
– Srikanth Settikere, Vice President and Managing Director, Microchip India Development Center
A Strategic Bet on India’s Semiconductor Momentum
India’s semiconductor industry is entering a defining decade – buoyed by the government’s “Make in India” and “India Semiconductor Mission” initiatives, alongside a surge in domestic design and manufacturing capabilities. Microchip’s new base in Whitefield positions the company at the heart of this transformation, offering proximity to top-tier engineering talent, academic institutions, and global clients.
Catalyzing Talent, Technology, and Ecosystem Collaboration
Microchip Technology’s expansion reinforces India’s role as not just a delivery hub but a center for design-led innovation. The new facility will house engineering and support teams working on next-gen semiconductors, embedded systems, and connected technologies.
The move also symbolizes confidence in Bengaluru’s robust commercial real estate market, with the EPIP Zone emerging as a preferred destination for global capability centers (GCCs) and R&D organizations seeking scale and synergy.
India’s Semiconductor Story: From Assembly to Intelligence
The semiconductor sector in India is poised for exponential growth, with the market expected to reach USD 80–90 billion by 2030. Global players like Microchip, AMD, Micron, and Applied Materials are expanding local operations, transforming India into a global semiconductor engineering hub.
By strengthening its presence in Whitefield – often dubbed the “Silicon Valley of India” – Microchip reinforces a broader trend: multinational firms are no longer just outsourcing engineering, but insourcing innovation through India’s GCC ecosystem.
“We recently celebrated Microchip’s 25th anniversary in India and this office acquisition is a testament to our commitment in India. We believe our investments in the region will enable us to both benefit from and contribute to the country’s increasingly important role in the global semiconductor industry.”
– Steve Sanghi, President & CEO, Microchip
