Hyderabad | 28 February 2026: Belgium-headquartered Itineris, a provider of SaaS solutions for water and energy utilities, has inaugurated its Global Technology & Innovation Centre in Hyderabad. The facility consolidates the company’s India-based teams into a centralized engineering hub integrated directly into its global operating structure.

The center will drive core development and platform innovation for Itineris’ flagship UMAX and Verity solutions, built on Microsoft Dynamics 365 and deployed across utilities in North America and Europe.

Itineris is a global technology leader 100% focused on the utility sector, providing modern CIS and CRM solutions. Its flagship UMAX Utility Suite, built on the Microsoft Dynamics 365 platform, leverages AI and Microsoft Copilot to help energy and water utilities unify data and streamline complex billing and customer service operations. The company supports over 100 customers across North America and Europe, managing millions of customer accounts.

Inside the Technology Hub

The Hyderabad center is structured as a product engineering and innovation facility rather than a support office. Its mandate includes:

  • Core product development for UMAX and Verity
  • AI-enabled workflow optimization
  • Platform architecture and system scalability
  • 24/7 global support enablement
  • Continuous feature enhancement for regulated utility markets

These platforms manage mission-critical functions such as customer information systems (CIS), CRM, billing, asset management, and enterprise resource planning for water and energy utilities.

A Strategic Node for Next-Gen Utility Software

“India has long been an important part of our global talent strategy. By formalizing our presence in Hyderabad, we are strengthening the foundations that have been built over many years. The region’s world‑class IT expertise and dynamic technology ecosystem support our ambition to deliver continuous innovation and seamless support to utilities worldwide…rare combination of deep engineering talent and a governance environment that enables innovation at scale”

-Edgard Vermeersch, CEO and Founder of Itineris

Utilities across the US and Europe are undergoing modernization driven by regulatory pressure, sustainability mandates, and infrastructure renewal needs. Software platforms that integrate customer management, operational data, and financial systems are central to that transformation.

By anchoring core product ownership in Hyderabad, Itineris expands engineering bandwidth while maintaining centralized governance over architecture and product evolution.

The move formalizes what had previously been a distributed collaboration model, transitioning toward a structured innovation center with end-to-end development capability.

What’s Next

The strategic implications are clear:

  • Shift from distributed collaboration to consolidated ownership
Bringing India-based teams into a single integrated hub formalizes product accountability. This transition strengthens architectural consistency and accelerates roadmap execution.
  • Engineering continuity across time zones
Utilities operate critical infrastructure. A globally synchronized development model ensures uninterrupted platform evolution and faster issue resolution.
  • Digital backbone for infrastructure modernization
As utilities modernize grid systems, customer engagement, and compliance reporting, demand for resilient, AI-enabled enterprise platforms will intensify. The Hyderabad hub expands Itineris’ capacity to meet that demand without fragmenting product control.

Execution will ultimately define impact. Platform stability, release cadence, regulatory adaptability, and client retention across energy and water utilities will determine whether this center becomes a long-term innovation pillar or simply a scaling extension.
