Bengaluru | 27 November 2025: Global aviation-IT leader Lufthansa Systems has officially launched Lufthansa Systems India, headquartered in Bengaluru – a new subsidiary that will host a full-fledged Global Capability Centre (GCC), developed in collaboration with Infosys. With the addition of Lufthansa Systems India, the company now operates in 19 locations, including major hubs in Gdańsk and Budapest, with a global workforce of around 3,100 employees.

“The launch of Lufthansa Systems India is a key step in our global strategy to build a resilient and diversified delivery model. It reflects our commitment to excellence and innovation in aviation IT. We are excited to deepen our partnership with Infosys and expand our impact across the industry.”

– Stefanie Neumann, CEO of Lufthansa Systems

This move signals not just geographic expansion for an airline-IT vendor, it reflects a broader shift in how enterprises worldwide are re-imagining their operating and delivery models. The India-based GCC will leverage AI-driven innovation and agile software development to support both Lufthansa’s internal operations and external airline customers.

“With Lufthansa Systems India, we are laying the groundwork for future-ready IT services that combine agility, innovation, and deep aviation expertise. Bengaluru’s dynamic tech ecosystem offers the ideal environment to grow our capabilities and attract top talent.”

– Luigi Celmi, MD of Lufthansa Systems India

What This Means for GCCs & the Enterprise-Services Ecosystem

  • India as a Strategic GCC Hub: With its technology talent pool and robust IT ecosystem, Bengaluru emerges again as a preferred destination for delivering global-scale services. For companies building GCCs, this validates India’s enduring advantage as a global delivery base.
  • Tectonic Shift from Traditional Outsourcing to Product & Innovation: The Lufthansa Systems India GCC underscores a shift from traditional cost-arbitrage outsourcing toward product-engineering, R&D, and innovation at scale. This aligns with evolving enterprise requirements across industries seeking agility and tech-enabled transformation.
  • GCCs as Strategic Assets, Not a ‘No-value Centre’: Enterprises are increasingly viewing GCCs as strategic growth levers, enabling global operations, innovation pipelines, and long-term competitive edge, rather than mere back-office functions.

Role of GCC Catalysts & Ecosystem Partners

As enterprises ramp up GCC investments – across aviation, fintech, healthcare, technology, and more – there is growing need for ecosystem partners who bring maturity, governance, domain-agnostic GCC operating frameworks, and transformation know-how.

This is where SSF Global – an industry community of GCCs & GCC Ecosystem Partners, steps up.

  • Our Vision: Enable GCCs to evolve into strategic assets – not just for delivery or cost arbitrage, but for global-grade innovation, product development, and enterprise excellence.
  • Our Role: As transformation catalysts and ecosystem enablers, we provide enterprises with tools/ solutions to conceptualize, set up, scale, and govern GCCs/FCCs – converting remote centres into high-performing hubs with global standards.
  • Our Objective: As demonstrated by Lufthansa Systems’ move, global enterprises are doubling down on GCCs. Those who build with vision and governance (rather than reactively) will capture the true value: resilience, innovation agility, and global competitiveness. We provide that end-to-end visibility for an informed decision/ strategy

The Broader Implication

The launch of Lufthansa Systems India is a bellwether moment. It shows how GCCs are rapidly maturing into global-scale levers of digital transformation, enterprise agility, and competitive differentiation.

At SSF Global (and through our collaboration network with GCC catalysts like Quintes Global), we are committed to helping enterprises ride this GCC wave – enabling them to build future-ready operations that go beyond boundaries.
