11 August 2026: BAT (British American Tobacco) has appointed Bambang Hartanto as its new Head of HR – Indonesia. Bambang will be responsible for architecting progressive talent strategies, optimizing workforce capabilities, and aligning enterprise culture directly with the company’s overarching commercial objectives.

This executive elevation marks a significant milestone in Hartanto’s 11-year journey with BAT. Over the past decade, he has established himself as a transformation leader within the global organization, navigating complex business landscapes across nine different countries and operating in four languages. He has successfully executed large-scale organizational restructures, orchestrated critical employee engagement turnarounds, and drove sustained enterprise transformation. His profound understanding of BAT’s global operational framework uniquely positions him to scale high-performing teams across Indonesia.

Reflecting on his tenure and his new mandate, Bambang shared a profound leadership philosophy on LinkedIn: “I am stepping into a new chapter: Head of HR – Indonesia at BAT. 11 years ago, I joined BAT. I didn’t know then that this would become years of building, rebuilding, and transforming… One lesson: the best organisations aren’t built by HR. They’re built by people leaders who understand that talent strategy is commercial strategy.”
