BENGALURU | 31 August 2026: DN Solutions has officially inaugurated its first domestic manufacturing plant in Bengaluru. Anchored in the Bengaluru ITIR Industrial Area across a sprawling 25-acre campus, this deployment is backed by a fully realized ₹600 crore ($62 million) Phase-1 investment.
Serving as the firm’s first overseas manufacturing investment since establishing its Chinese facility in 2003, this hub marks a critical transition. DN Solutions is aggressively pivoting its Indian operations from a major sales market into a fully sovereign technology and production base, mandated to build the heavy machinery required to power the emerging era of “Physical AI”.
KEY HIGHLIGHTS
- The ₹600-Crore Capital Deployment: The Bengaluru plant represents completely new global capacity, not a relocation of legacy supply chains from South Korea or China.
- The Physical AI Mandate: According to CEO Wonjong Kim, as artificial intelligence expands beyond digital software into the physical world, advanced machine tools serve as the core platform executing these algorithms. The hub is designed specifically to engineer this next generation of automated precision machinery.
- Aggressive Localization: The company is bypassing traditional assembly-only models. It has already achieved 80% localization by parts count and plans to source nearly all components (excluding complex spindle assemblies) locally within the next five years by formally developing Indian MSMEs.
- Talent Incubation: The facility currently houses around 240 direct employees, with immediate plans to scale to 500. Through its dedicated DN Academy, the firm is creating a massive talent pipeline to upskill domestic application engineers and machining specialists.
Headquartered in Changwon, South Korea, DN Solutions (formerly known globally as Doosan Machine Tools) is one of the world’s builders of Computer Numerical Control (CNC) turning and machining centers. Following its acquisition by the DN Automotive conglomerate in 2022, the enterprise rebranded to its current identity to reflect its evolution into a comprehensive manufacturing solutions provider.
The company maintains a massive global footprint with manufacturing bases in South Korea, China, and now India, supported by an extensive network of R&D and technical centers across the Americas and Europe. In India, DN Solutions has cultivated a deep market presence spanning over 30 years initiating sales in 1994, launching its Bengaluru Technical Center in 2008, and formalizing its Indian subsidiary in 2016.
INFRASTRUCTURE & CAPABILITIES: INSIDE THE BENGALURU ITIR HUB
Unlike traditional fragmented manufacturing setups, the 25-acre Bengaluru facility is structurally engineered to consolidate the entire machine-tool value chain under a single roof. The operational blueprint inside the facility focuses on four distinct verticals:
- Advanced Manufacturing Floors: Initial production lines are rigorously calibrated to manufacture products tailored to the Indian market, specifically the SVM series vertical machining centers and the LYNX and LEO series horizontal turning centers. The infrastructure is designed to eventually support the highly complex production of top-tier five-axis machines in future phases.
- Cross-Border R&D Center: The localized research squads will not operate in isolation. They are deeply integrated with DN Solutions’ four existing global research institutes across Korea, Germany, and China, collaboratively developing precision hardware and software applications tailored for the aerospace, automotive, and medical sectors.
- The Technical Experience Center: A specialized zone where prospective clients and engineers can conduct live test-cuts and evaluate highly optimized, customized machining solutions before committing to massive capital expenditures.
- After-Sales & DN Academy: To guarantee absolute minimal downtime for its industrial clients, the facility houses a rapid response service office, a dedicated repair shop, a parts warehouse, and an advanced training academy designed to build deep field-service expertise.
As AI expands beyond digital screens into the physical world, machines become indispensable. At the centre of that transformation phase are machine tools, serving as a core platform for Physical AI. Bengaluru has a strong software ecosystem, which uniquely positions it to lead manufacturing in the Physical AI era.
