29 September 2026: IT services company Coforge has appointed Akhil Kumar Gupta as its Chairperson and Non-Executive Independent Director for a five-year tenure, subject to shareholder approval. In this role, he will lead the Board of Directors, strengthen corporate governance frameworks, and guide the organization’s long-term business strategy.

Taking on this mandate, Akhil steps into direct board operations following the recent departures of former chairman O P Bhatt and Nomination and Remuneration Committee (NRC) chairperson D K Singh. Following those exits, non-executive independent director Vivek Sharma served as interim chairperson and oversaw a global selection process in partnership with executive search firm Egon Zehnder. Selected unanimously by the NRC and the Board from an initial pool of 60 candidates, Akhil will focus on aligning independent oversight with stakeholder and investor interests.

A Chartered Accountant, Akhil brings over 40 years of professional experience across corporate finance, enterprise expansion, and institutional governance. During his tenure as Vice-Chairman of Bharti Enterprises, he played a central role in steering the conglomerate through multiple industry and operational transitions. Currently, he serves as Board Chairperson for 360 ONE WAM Ltd and Bharti Life Insurance Ltd. Additionally, he holds active board memberships at Zepto, Snapdeal, Eutelsat Communications, and Lodha Developers.
