Bengaluru, | 07 March 2026: Airbus has inaugurated its new Airbus India Technology Centre (AITC) in Bengaluru, significantly expanding its global engineering and digital capabilities. The facility spans approximately 880,000 square feet and can accommodate up to 5,000 employees, making it Airbus’s second-largest digital and engineering hub outside Europe.

Airbus is a global aerospace leader dedicated to pioneering sustainable aerospace for a safe and united world across its Commercial Aircraft, Helicopters, Defence, and Space divisions. Operating from over 180 locations worldwide.Airbus’ strategic vision is centered on decarbonization, spearheaded by advancements in hydrogen propulsion, sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), and cutting-edge digital transformation initiatives like quantum navigation. Beyond Earth’s atmosphere, the company remains a critical partner in deep-space exploration, notably powering NASA’s Artemis II lunar mission with the Airbus-built European Service Module

Engineering Across the Aircraft Lifecycle

The Bengaluru campus will function as an integrated hub supporting multiple aspects of Airbus’s global operations. Unlike traditional engineering support centers, the facility is designed to contribute across the entire aircraft lifecycle, from design and development to operational support.

Engineering teams at the centre will work in several core areas, including:

  • Aircraft and helicopter engineering systems
  • Digital engineering and lifecycle management
  • Customer services and operational support
  • Procurement and supplier integration

The facility will also focus on advanced technology domains shaping the future of aviation, including artificial intelligence, robotics, cybersecurity, and sustainable aviation systems.

Research initiatives at the centre will support the development and certification of technologies linked to Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) and next-generation aircraft systems.

Strengthening India’s Aerospace Supply Ecosystem

Airbus has steadily expanded its collaboration with India’s aerospace industry over the past decade. The company’s sourcing from India has grown significantly, reflecting deeper integration with the local manufacturing and engineering ecosystem.

More than 100 Indian companies are currently part of Airbus’s global supply chain, producing critical aircraft components such as fuselage sections, aircraft doors, and flap track beams.

Building Long-Term Aerospace Talent

The campus also includes a regional chapter of the Airbus Leadership University, which focuses on developing engineering leaders and aerospace specialists.

The initiative is intended to support long-term workforce development in areas such as aerospace engineering, digital aviation systems, and advanced manufacturing technologies.
