Pune | 6 November 2025: Switzerland-based Tenthpin Management Consultants has formally launched its Center for Life Sciences Cloud Solutions in Pune – an advanced Global Center of Excellence (GCoE) designed to accelerate cloud, AI, and next-generation digital transformation for the global Life Sciences sector.

The new hub represents a major step in Tenthpin’s global expansion and reflects the company’s commitment to building high-impact digital capabilities in India. The facility was inaugurated by Michael Schmidt, Founder and Member of the Executive Board, along with Stephanie Marx, Partner and Key Account Delivery Lead, and Sachin Bhure, Partner & Managing Director of Tenthpin India.

Pune to Power Tenthpin’s Global Life Sciences Innovation Mandate

Speaking at the launch, Michael Schmidt highlighted the strategic significance of the India expansion:

“The opening of our Pune office marks an important milestone in Tenthpin’s global growth journey. Pune plays a pivotal role in delivering innovative, high-quality solutions for our Life Sciences clients worldwide.”

The new centre will focus on building specialized solutions in:

  • SAP Batch Release Hub
  • SAP Intelligent Clinical Supply Management
  • SAP Cell & Gene Treatment Orchestration

These capabilities position the Pune GCoE as a critical global engine supporting Life Sciences organizations navigating regulatory complexity, clinical supply chains, and the fast-evolving world of cell & gene therapies.

India as a Central Pillar of Tenthpin’s Delivery Strategy

Reinforcing India’s importance in the company’s operating model, Stephanie Marx noted:

“India has proven to be a cornerstone of our global delivery model, combining exceptional expertise, technical excellence, and a deep commitment to quality.”

Adding to this, Sachin Bhure emphasized Tenthpin’s ambition to unlock India’s full potential in the Life Sciences domain:

“We aim to help Indian Life Sciences companies become global leaders in innovation with the strength of local talent.”

With plans to double its India workforce within the next year, Tenthpin’s Pune hub is expected to play a pivotal role in shaping the company’s future solutions, client delivery, and global capability-building initiatives.

A Strong Signal for India’s Deepening Domain Leadership

From an SSF Global standpoint, Tenthpin’s investment reinforces several broader trends reshaping the India GCC and GCoE landscape:

  1. Domain-led Capability Centres Are Becoming the New Differentiator: This centre is not a traditional shared services footprint, it is a domain-intensive, product-oriented, innovation-driven hub. Life Sciences, healthcare, medtech, biotech, and regulatory sciences are among the fastest-growing GCC verticals in India.
  2. Pune’s Emergence as a Cloud & Life Sciences Tech Powerhouse: While Bengaluru and Hyderabad continue to dominate tech-driven GCC expansions, Pune is increasingly becoming the preferred location for:
    • SAP-led capability hubs
    • R&D-oriented global centres
    • Life Sciences and clinical operations tech units
    • Cloud, AI, and supply chain intelligence hubs
  3. India Is Now Fueling Global Innovation, Beyond Just Global Operations: Tenthpin’s focus areas, clinical supply management, cell & gene orchestration, intelligent batch release, are high-value, IP-heavy functions traditionally based in Europe or the US. Their movement to India signals a clear shift:
India is no longer supporting innovation. India is creating it.
  4. Talent Density and Technical Precision Are Redefining COO & CIO Mandates: The ability to deliver regulatory-grade, accuracy-driven Life Sciences solutions from India demonstrates the depth of expertise the ecosystem has built.
This is a strong validation of India’s capability maturity and talent strength in high-stakes, science-driven domains.

Key Takeaways for Industry Leaders

  • Invest in Domain + Digital: GCCs that pair deep domain expertise with cloud, AI, and data will dominate the next decade.
  • Choose the Right Location Strategy: Pune, Hyderabad, and Chennai are fast-emerging as top choices for Life Sciences and SAP-first capability centres.
  • Leverage India for Complex Operations: High-value functions – clinical tech, regulatory solutions, advanced analytics – are increasingly feasible and scalable in India.
  • Prioritize Capability Over Cost: The new wave of GCCs is capability-led, not arbitrage-led. Leadership should align investments accordingly.
  • Use AI to Accelerate Industry-specific Innovation: The intersection of AI, cloud, and Life Sciences is opening opportunities for intelligence-driven clinical operations, supply chain orchestration, and treatment personalization.

Tenthpin’s Pune GCoE is another clear indicator that the next era of Life Sciences digital transformation will be shaped from India, with ecosystem strength, talent excellence, and innovation maturity emerging as the country’s true competitive advantages.
