Chennai | 22 November 2025: In a significant boost to India’s fast-expanding capability ecosystem, Lloyd’s List Intelligence (LLI), a globally respected leader in maritime analytics and trade intelligence, has inaugurated a new Global Capability Centre (GCC) in Chennai. The centre has been set up in partnership with Cushman & Wakefield’s GCC Advisory Services, marking a milestone in LLI’s continued expansion into data-driven maritime intelligence and global operations excellence.

The newly established Centre of Excellence is poised to become a critical engine within LLI’s global value chain. The Chennai team will support some of the company’s most mission-critical functions, including processing, cleaning, and delivering over one billion maritime data points each day. This capability ensures that LLI’s global customers receive intelligence that is not only timely and precise but also actionable for high-stakes decisions across shipping, logistics, compliance, and risk.

India: A Strategic Pillar in LLI’s Global Growth Agenda

“India’s capability ecosystem plays a central role in our global growth. The Chennai GCC reinforces our commitment to innovation and excellence in maritime analytics.”

Parvin Conners, COO, Lloyd’s List Intelligence

Parvin noted that the initiative has already received significant institutional support, with the Government of Tamil Nadu signing an MoU on 3 September 2025, signalling confidence in LLI’s long-term investments and job creation plans.

Chennai Chosen for Talent, Infrastructure and GCC Maturity
Cushman & Wakefield played a pivotal role in conceptualising and delivering the centre.

“LLI India had a clear mandate to establish a strategic offshore centre with an initial capacity of over 200 professionals. Chennai emerged as the destination of choice due to its deep talent pool, robust academic ecosystem, and a well-established GCC infrastructure.”

– V.S. Sridhar, Executive Managing Director (TN & Kerala) and Head – GCC Advisory, Operations & Emerging Cities

Chennai continues to strengthen its position as a preferred GCC hub, particularly for data-intensive industries such as maritime intelligence, fintech, engineering, and advanced analytics. The city’s ability to supply domain-rich talent and sustain high-complexity global operations has been a recurring theme in several recent GCC investments.

Strengthening India’s Position as a Capability Powerhouse

The establishment of LLI’s GCC reinforces India’s growing influence as one of the world’s most trusted destinations for data intelligence, analytics, and digital operations. The move aligns with a broader trend of global enterprises leveraging India not only for scale, but increasingly for innovation, accuracy-driven intelligence, and mission-critical decision support.

At SSF Global, this development is consistent with what we continue to observe across the ecosystem:

  • A sustained rise in global firms choosing India for high-value, data-led capability centres
  • A strategic shift from transactional offshoring to advanced analytics and intelligence ownership
  • Increasing collaboration between enterprises, state governments, academic institutions, and advisory partners to build future-ready capability ecosystems

With the launch of its Chennai GCC, Lloyd’s List Intelligence joins a growing cohort of global organizations betting on India for next-gen capability building, further strengthening India’s leadership in the knowledge, analytics, and digital operations landscape.
