Kerala has unveiled an ambitious technology growth strategy under its Vision 2031 roadmap, with a core goal of generating 5 lakh (500,000) new jobs in the information technology sector by 2031. The plan, announced by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan during the ReCode Kerala 2025 IT Seminar, also targets capturing 10% of India’s IT market share while expanding the state’s digital economy. To support this expansion, the government plans to increase IT infrastructure to 3 crore square feet, develop data centres, cloud infrastructure, and satellite IT parks, and encourage private investment through land-pooling models and public-private partnerships.

The strategy emphasises building a strong ecosystem for emerging technologies like artificial intelligence, semiconductors, and next-generation digital services, alongside skill development programs aimed at training one million young professionals. It also includes proposals to increase the number of Global Capability Centres to 120, promote sustainable practices in energy and construction, and support startup growth with targeted missions such as the Kerala AI Mission and Kerala Future Technology Mission. The initiative aims to position Kerala as a national leader in tech innovation and employment growth by 2031.
