Perplexity, the US-based AI search company, has launched a finance feature that gives Indian users free access to comprehensive stock market and crypto data through its Perplexity Finance tab. The service covers live stock prices, historical price and volume data, and company earnings for firms listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE), all without subscription fees or paywalls. Users can query specific stocks or sectors and receive real-time figures and trend summaries. Beyond equities, the platform also includes crypto market insights sourced from Coinbase, making it a broad tool for retail investors seeking data without cost.
The move is aimed at empowering individual investors by democratizing premium financial information that is usually available only through paid services. According to the company, demand for the tool has surged since launch, growing several-fold in usage. Perplexity has also built partnerships, including with telecom provider Airtel, to extend access to its AI search engine and finance features across a large user base in India. This development reflects the company’s broader strategy to tailor its offerings for the Indian market and challenge traditional financial information providers.
