The Tamil Nadu government has created a dedicated desk at the Guidance Office to support Global Capability Centres (GCCs) and make it easier for them to invest and operate in the state. Announced by Industries Minister T.R.B. Rajaa at the GCC Next Summit 2025 in Chennai, the new desk will serve as a central point for queries and help streamline communication and approvals for companies exploring or expanding GCC operations in Tamil Nadu. The move is aimed at improving investor experience and speeding up clearances to attract more multinational firms.

Minister Rajaa highlighted the importance of strengthening the research and development ecosystem in the state’s major technology hubs, especially Chennai, which already hosts a large number of GCCs. He encouraged businesses to increase their focus on R&D, pointing to ongoing infrastructure developments such as new modern workspaces in Coimbatore and a Neo Tidel facility in Kanyakumari.

Current data shows Tamil Nadu has more than 350 GCCs, with the majority in Chennai and others spread across cities including Salem, Vellore, Madurai, Tiruchi, and Tirunelveli. This initiative is part of the state’s broader strategy to expand its footprint as a preferred destination for high-value global services and innovation-driven operations
